If you want your children to be intelligent, read them fairy tales. If you want them to be more intelligent, read them more fairy tales

Benefits

Storytelling in Schools

What are the benefits of inviting a storyteller into your classroom or library?

  • Storytelling can provide a high quality narrative experience, especially for children who have difficulty with reading stories themselves

  • Storytelling stimulates the imagination because there are no images provided and the listeners must supply them by exercising their imaginations

  • Storytelling provides a model of good communication and presentation skills and an enjoyable and less threatening way to learn and practice them

  • Storytelling is about what it is to be human. Folk and fairy tales deal with the big themes in life - seeking your fortune, finding your true love, facing evil, overcoming adversity, and finding your place in the world - in a subtle, entertaining and sometimes humorous way.

  • Lessons from fairy tales have a way of coming back to help us when we least expect
